Early in my married life, I learned that my husband and I had different ideas about food and its consumption. Faced with a pitcher of orange juice at the breakfast table, Mr. M drank as much as he wanted. I drank one cup and put the rest away for another day. Bananas were his cure for all woes, and if there were bananas and yogurt around, we had food, even if there was nothing else in the house.
I am still a rationer with some foods, like yogurt, and evidently, my children have caught on. Today, about an hour after the boys finished their after-school yogurt snack, I went to the kitchen to begin dinner preparations. There were two empty yogurt cups on the table, one per boy. Yes, I am trying to teach them to put trash in the garbage. It is a work in progress. When I opened the fridge, I found an empty yogurt container whose lid had been carefully replaced. Someone had eaten two yogurts and was trying to hide it from me!

Talents
My daughter is already beginning to manifest her talents. For example, when she spits up, she can get it on both the outside AND the inside of my shirt at the same time, while keeping herself clean and dry. Sigh...

My girl
You know that song?
"I got sunshaaaaaeeeeeyine on a cloudy day. When it's cold outside, I got the month of May. I guess you say what could make me feel this way? My girl, my girl, my girl...."
That's how I feel about Elizabeth. Even during those feedings that happen in the wee hours, she makes me happy.

Here is our sleeping beauty. (Yes, I know that is a princess reference. It fits!)

She is becoming more expressive. She is also quite a squirmer, always working those arms and legs, unless she's asleep.
And here are two of her favorite people:

Resident author
Harvey is a V.I.P. - Very Important Pig. He is the star of Mr. M's fantastic bedtime stories: Harvey the surfing pig, who lives in the crawl space under the boys' bedroom and pops up from the sewer out of our toilet.
Excuse me, as I type this, Scott is reading over my shoulder, and he has informed me that Harvey comes in and out of Scott's bedroom via the magic manhole mat. (For 3 Kings Day, our manhole scientist received a genuine Los Angeles Sanitary Sewer mat which looks just like a manhole cover.)
Harvey receives mail at our house on top of the toilet tank in the boys' bathroom. He has been the recipient and the subject of Scott's letters. I attach here below a sampling:

Evidently, Harvey attends church and likes to sing. He must go to a rockin' church because the title of this hymn, as you might notice is "Harvey Wipeout".

And here is a little drawing.

Scott also writes valentines (very sweet, even if it is the 100th time):

Here is what he calls a "Scott-to-dot".

Great news!
On a whim this morning, I called Kaiser to see what was up with our appeal to get Elizabeth's coverage. We sent our appeal letter a month ago. Thankfully, the Member Service agent who answered was a doer. She looked up the application, read the notes, called the underwriters, got everything straightened out... The short story is that beginning 2/15, Elizabeth will have health insurance -hooray!
