Inquiring minds want to know

I stepped out of the apartment for a few minutes this evening to show our vacancies to a nice couple who stopped by. As usual, I took our phone handset with me and told the boys to page me if they needed anything. After a few minutes, I got paged, so I hurried back to the apartment.

As I opened the front door, Scott greeted me with this urgent question: "Do you think the bug is just energy after it's in the Venus flytrap?"

Huh? What bug? Where? Oh. This is a glimpse into the mind of my son, the burning curiosity which compels him to page me so I will return instantly to answer his question. Wow. Were you ever this thirsty for knowledge? I don't think I was.

Free at last?

MLK Holiday tomorrow so no school. While looking for some place to take the kids that would entertain them and keep them dry, we found this:

Just because I thought she looked cute in a hat

Florida - III Elizabeth's Baby Blessing

In our church, as a point of doctine, we don't baptize infants. We do, however, have a special baby blessing where the child receives a name and is placed on the records of the church. (more details here). Generally this occurs at the church but since we had the extended family together and two infants to bless, we did it at the home in Florida. Here are all the family members that participated in performing the ordinance.

Hmmmm..

Sounds of water sloshing from the bathroom.

Mr. M. : Scott, are you plunging the toilet?

Scott: No.

Mrs. M.: Were you plunging the toilet?

Scott: No.

Mrs. M: What were you doing?

Scott: You mean earlier?

Mr. M: Yes!

Scott: I was plunging the toilet.

Florida II- Fun stuff we did

The Castillo San Marcos

We caught a musket firing demonstration and learned a bit about this Spanish fort.

Pictures on the Beach

We got some family photos.

Those present at the photo shoot know that the images of me here are more touched up than an Iranian press release.

I was actually dealing with the effects of a dermatological treatment that left my face worse looking than the condition it was treating. (ick!)

Fun in Florida part I

I've been saving up pictures of several days so this will be a series of posts. Ethan had a great time and even got to celebrate his birthday with Grandma and Grandpa. He got a dataman and trip to NASA's Cape Canaveral. He was very excited about both.

The condo on the marina was amazing. It was a very relaxing place to spend the break... as long as the kids were outside.

Denied!

We just found out this week that Kaiser Permanente denied Elizabeth health insurance coverage under the plan we applied for:
Our record review indicates Elizabeth’s current length as 23 inches and her current weight as 8 pounds 11 ounces. Elizabeth’s current weight falls below our current criteria.
We have appealed but the department at Kaiser that takes care of appeals will only let us contact them via snail mail. It can take up to 30 days before we hear back from them.
