Last Friday was a great day. I cooked one of my favorite dinners, which includes porkchops, browned, then baked in cream of mushroom soup. Ethan and Scott both turned up their noses at the porkchops. I begged, I pleaded, I incentivized (ask me about our new point system), and then....
Scott tried the porkchops first. He had one small bite, then another! He liked it and asked for more!
To add to the excitement, Ethan agreed to try one small bite of porkchop. Amazingly, he also liked it and ate his whole little piece!
At long last, a real dinner that everyone will eat. I feel so loved when people eat my food. It was a very happy day.

Yay! Now if you just make pork chops every night, everybody will be happy. :)
what's your new point system?
Ah, the new point system... We are focusing on the positive and giving a point for every good thing that the boys do, like make the bed, put dirty clothes in the hamper, put away library books after reading them, clear their dishes, put their toothbrushes away after brushing... They earn rewards with their points, like making chocolate chip cookies, getting swim goggles, watching a movie during the week (usually only allowed on weekends), etc. So far, it is working out pretty well. Once points are earned, they cannot be taken away.
We use it in combination with a stoplight system. If someone talks back, or whacks his brother (etc), he goes to yellow. It's a warning. If the behavior continues, he goes to red, and he loses a privilege. The first privilege to go is screen time (meaning computer use). Right now, they get 5 minutes per year of age.
Yum! Noble Pig recently posted a pork chops w/ apricot glaze recipe that looks quite delicous. Now you mention this. Wilburs everywhere are scrambling to escape my path.
Hey,
Khali made me update my blog for you. Thanks for calling today. Was good to catch up. Send our love to the boys and your families.
